Cruiserweight

Several years ago on a trip to SXSW i happened upon a kick ass rockin' group fronted by a feisty singer. A quick chat resulted in a self produced EP and several beers. On my return to the London i added a couple of tracks to the database at my workplace and featured one track, "Cautionary Tale" in an unsigned show. The track got more positive responses than anything else had before it and for a long time afterwards. I occasionally exchanged email with the guys but gradually lost touch and didn't see too much of their name around.
As it turns out they had joined with Doghouse records and have since released two EPs, they have an album due out at some point this summer with an internet only EP ahead of that in mid June, things are looking good.

check out a sample from the album here

Through near constant touring and a ton of hard work they look about to burst out, not a moment too soon either. Do yourself a favor and check out their tunes, catch them live next time they pass through your town and buy a t-shirt.
I myself will try to track down "Cautionary Tale" on some kind of official or legit site.

I did what i said i would and thanks to the band here you go - Cautionary Tale
In the meantime this is the video for "Balboa" the lead track off their upcoming EP "Rocks The Moon"

what to choose?

Throughout each day i make a decision on what i am going to post/share/whatever, i had this chain going from Chiodos... I still may.
Everyone should buy Cinematic Sunrise's "A Coloring Storybook and Long Playing Record" to welcome in their summer, unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere then relive your summer's with Cinematic Sunrise's "A Coloring Storybook and Long Playing Record"
For those that don't know Cinematic Sunrise is a pop punk yang to Chiodos' yin. Comprising Chiodos members Craig Owens & Bradley Bell together with three other dudes by the names of Brian Beeler, Marcus Vankirk and Dave Shapiro whom i am sure have fingers in several other pies. A full biog is at their Equal Vision site.
The recently released six track EP begins with "Pulling a Piano from a Pond" which features, not surprisingly i suppose, some kick ass piano with guitars draped over it like pond weed perhaps. Chiodos fans can rejoice here too as Owens' failiar vocals dance all over the track. Over the course of the 6 songs we get to hear plenty of Owens signature sounds on a range of tracks that has enough variety to separate it from the field. It is genuinely hard to pick a favorite but besides the opener i would have to agree with the AP.net reviewer that "The Wordless" is a peach.

also, over here there is a diary of their current tour, a tour diary.

Fluff My Boner

Sweet news from Warped HQ that Chiodos have been added to this year's tour, unfortunately it is only one date but it is in Detroit, also added is Matisyahu who will be on for 3/4 days in July.

Chiodos is a band i have liked for a fair while but never seemed to have given them attention they deserve, that changed recently after SXSW where i caught them at Emo's, there was also some Craig Owens shenanigans with Anthony Green both of which made me dive deep into the two Chiodos albums that i own. For that stuff with Anthony Green then i am sure a swift youtube search will reap rewards.

Chiodos is shit hot rock music, a sextet whose vocalist has a distinct and powerful delivery that perfectly captures their tuneage, check them out and make your own opinions.

Lexington is currently getting airplay on all good radio stations, and some bad ones too.

Ludo

I would imagine the majority of people who would read this already know all about Ludo. If you do, sweet watch this again and enjoy. On the off chance you don't then watch and enjoy.

Ludo is a five piece from St Louis who kicks ass. They signed a sweet deal, I would imagine, with Island Records which led to the February release of You're awful, i love you, which you should run out and buy or stay in and buy it from itunes (any ideas how i do the direct link to itunes?).
They are touring now too, dates on their myspace and after that finishes they will be joining up with Warped.

All is good

Summer's a coming

So naturally i am looking forward to the Warped Tour this year as once more i will be taking in the greatest parking lots of the US in all their baking hot glory.

On Warped this summer TAT , who you should check out now. Obviously i am going to say they are awesome and you should catch their set when you go to the tour but don't just take my word for it check their music, see them live and make up your own mind.

Also on tour i will be updating this, ideally each day, with a tour diary type thing. The intent is to have pics, interviews and maybe the odd track or two from a variety of the bands on tour but, good intentions 'n all that.

Over the coming weeks i will be previewing some of the bands i am looking forward to seeing. Currently waiting on permission from a couple to put up some tunes but in the meantime check out these Myspace pages.

At last, a tune.

This is an awesome song from sadly missed band, off the 2003 album 'Antenna'. Not sure what the guys in the band are up to now, well that's a lie actually Steve Brodsky is making cool new music, as you will find back there.
